Essentials
Lunches and Snacks
We are a peanut and tree-nut-free school. We have several children with severe allergies, and we strive to create an environment that is safe for all learners.
Please send your child with a nutritious, litterless, and autonomously served lunch and snacks each day.
We have a microwave, toaster, kettle, and fridge for students to access to aid in preparing their meals.
Lunch takes place from 11:30 - noon, followed by a one-hour outdoor play period from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
Special Lunch Days (i.e. pizza, sushi, potlucks, etc) will be communicated through the school calendar.
Field Trips
Field trips are an integral part of the CMCS experience and take place regularly, both spontaneously and planned. All planned field trips will be communicated with families in advance. Opportunities for volunteering and carpooling provide opportunities for families to partake.
Interviews and Reports
Interviews: Interviews happen both formally and informally. Formally, each family is invited to meet with the classroom Educator. At this meeting, the teacher will present some of the work that the child has been doing, discuss concerns, and provide feedback about the student and classroom. Informally, we have always encouraged parents to engage in regular discussions with teachers and encourage parents with specific concerns to approach the teacher directly and ask for a meeting or a phone call.
Interview Schedule: Casa Programmes have interviews in the late fall and mid-spring. Elementary Programmes have interviews are mid-sping. At year-end, interviews are conducted by invitation of the teacher or by request of the family.
Reports: The report format for each classroom differs and is directly related to the types of assessment instruments used in class as well as the curriculum taught during that year. Through the report, the parent and child receive written feedback on the specific skills and areas of growth and learning the child has experienced.
Report Schedule: The Casa Programme provides one report at the end of the school year. The Elementary Programme provides two reports, one before the New Year and the other at the end of the school year. An interim report for Math will also be provided in mid-spring at the interview.
Whole School Camping Trip
Each year in early June all families are invited to join us on a whole school camping trip. This is a wonderful way to build community and celebrate a successful year of learning. Please refer to the school calendar for this year's dates.
Parent Council
Parent council meets each month, or more frequently when required, to support the culture and functions of our school supporting activities such as fundraising and strategic planning.
